Appeal: Timeliness

|

The trial court entered a divorce judgment on November 7, 2013. The mother filed a post-judgment motion on November 18, 2013. The motion was due to be denied by operation of law on February 18, 2014. On February 7, 2014, the parties filed a joint motion seeking to extend the time in which the mother’s post-judgment motion could remain pending. On that same date, the court entered an order extending the time by an additional 30 days. The trial court purported to rule on the post-judgment motion on June 18, 2014. In so doing, the court changed its original ruling and awarded custody of the parties’ child to the mother instead of the father. The father appealed. Appeal dismissed. Slaton v. Slaton
