SUMMARY
The office was retained to represent the client on appeal. Jeremy Wade Umphrey was convicted of manslaughter and second-degree assault, sentenced to 15 years in prison, with 5 years of imprisonment followed by 5 years of probation for the manslaughter conviction and 5 years for the assault. Although the 15-year base sentence is within the allowable limit, the way the sentence was split is illegal.
